6. I dont really get time to watch television at all but I do enjoy watching almost all the shows on HGTV. The first show I watched of Over your head was great. 7. Eric--
You're great--always enjoyed you're easy style! But, now, I have a question. I saw how the clip on this site on how to re-finish old furniture, but I have a more challenging re-finishing project. I want to expand my kitchen, use the exisiting cabinets (they're still in great condition and have a current style), and add more cabinets to match. But, I need to strip the existing ash cabinets (which have a very light white wash)and match them to the new ones with a stain (dark) that will permeate new cabinets and the exisiting ones with the same intensity for consistency. Any tricks to help me save money on my remodeling project by re-utilizing the older cabinets and making a good match with the new ones? Didn't see a "how-to" on this website.

9. Eric,
You really inspire me and give me hope that I can repair all of the damage my well meaning husband does. Here it is 7:30 am on Sunday morning and I'm trying to decide which I should try to fix first, this time. Let me explain..... I left on a short business trip, only 2 & 1/2 days this time. My husband cleaned my porcelain bathtub with bleach and a heavy duty brillo pad. Needless to say, he damaged it badly and to repair it before I returned, he spray painted the entire tub with white spray paint. Now I need to strip it and refinish it completely with liquid porcelain. I also need to get the white spray paint overspray off all of my furniture in the master bedroom. The job I had intended to do today was to remove the piece of plastic strip that he attached to the bottom of the back door and reinstall the threshold that he removed from the doorway because 'it works better this way' or to reinstall the correct electrical outlet in the garage instead of the one that he took out of my bathroom and put out there (it is not designed for exterior).
As I said, you inspire me :) I'm going to watch one or two more of your videos here on AOL and then begin my day of repairing the 'repairs'. Hopefully I will have several of them done before he gets home from work and he will never know. Please keep putting new "How To" and "Right Tool for the Job" videos here and on

10. As I read thsi entry in your blog, I had to laugh. As a single mom, one has to do careful budgeting, and the "right" tools are usually not on the list. I was reminded of the time I had to remove a VERY old sleeper sofa from my second floor apartment to make room for a new sofa being delivered the next day. Since the thing was so darn heavy, and I had no help to get it down stairs, I got the bright idea that taking it apart and bringing it to the dumpster in pieces was my best option. It took me about 2 and a half hours but I finally got it apart armed with nothing but a hammer, a pair of pliers, a screwdriver, and a kitchen steak knife! My mother, who lived with me at the time was amazed...and also laughed A LOT...but in the end I conquered that couch. A sledge hammer and a socket set would have really come in handy..but I got the job done.

13. Looked at your Blog for the first time today, ...good stuff! Enjoyed your entries, very insightful and to the point! My husband is a fireman, who has for our almost 31 years of marriage, done most of the big projects around our houses we've owned over the years, incuding room additions, remodels and even building a house. I've always helped (mostly being a go-for) but have learned by watching him. He works a lot of overtime and 99% of the time, when there's an emergency he's at work and I'm forced to deal with whatever the situation is. I have learned (mostly buy watching him) how to deal with many things on my own like burst water pipes, patching and painting, hanging shelves, putting garage cabinets together by myself, etc. I usually use the correct tools but sometimes have had to improvise, when I can't find or didn't own the correct tool. Glad to report, everything tried has worked, so far! Congrats on your own show, you deserve it!

14. Eric, I watch any show that I know you are on. You're a great teacher. Can you recommend or provide step by step instructions on bathroom remodeling using the existing layout of the bathroom. My bathroom is 30 years old. The estimates I got for my 6x8 bathroom were all 10,000 for labor alone, materials would be separate. I know I can do it with some guidence.
